Frequently Asked Questions about A1 SELT preparation

When you get to your SELT test centre, we will need to do some security checks before you are able to take your exam. You MUST bring the following with you for these checks:

  • Your ID - the same ID you used to book your exam
  • Your test booking confirmation.

Please note, if you don't bring these items with you then you won't be able to take your SELT test.

You won't be able to take any personal items into the exam room with you. This includes mobile phones, bags and headwear (unless worn for religious reasons). There will be lockers available at the test centre to store your belongings if you are not able to leave them at home.

After the test you will be met by your steward who will explain how you will get information about your certificate and results, as well as the different delivery options available.

Provisional results are sent by 9am the next day, and you will receive your certificate within 4 - 7 days.

When you book your SELT exam with Trinity you have the option to buy Trinity Exam Protect. This will enable you to retake your test at a date and time that suits you should you not pass.

If you booked your SELT test through another provider, then you may have to pay to book another test. You will need a pass on your SELT exam to be eligible to apply for either Further Leave to Remain, a Representative of an Overseas Business visa, or Sportsperson visa T2.

We know that sometimes things get in the way, and the original exam date booked may later not be suitable for you.
