Trinity examiners assess each candidate's exam performance against the communicative skills and language requirements listed for that grade in the GESE Exam Information booklet.
Examiners assess exam performance using an A-D rating scale. They award a letter grade - A, B, C or D - for each exam task - and they use performance band descriptors to decide what grade to award.
Calculating the overall result
There are four possible results for any GESE exam:
The overall result is based on the grades achieved in the individual exam tasks - GESE conversion tables show how this is calculated.
Trinity is committed to ensuring that the standard of each qualification remains consistent over time and so reserves the right to make appropriate adjustments to published grade thresholds and/or methods of aggregating marks.
Certificates
GESE certificates are usually sent within four weeks of the exam (or within seven days if the exam was taken in the Trinity SELT Centre in the UK).
